I became acquainted with Wendy English in April of this past year following the announcement that La-Z-Boy would be closing the manufacturing facility in Tremonton, Utah. She was part of the team of outplacement consultants who were brought in to support the job hunting efforts of the salaried employees.
During the past 5 months I have been impressed with Wendy’s caring attitude for other people. She is extremely skilled in her presentation of the outplacement material and helped some very scared people to feel that they would be able to move on from the La-Z-Boy experience. She spent extra hours following the classes to help individuals who required special attention and even donated some of her own time outside of the normal classwork to ensure that resume material was prepared and ready for job searching. I have personally seen how she would follow up with employees who she was worried about and coach them through special interview situations.
Wendy has always presented a very positive attitude. There have been a couple of times during our discussions that she picked up some discouragement in my voice. She talked me through those issues so that I was able to present a good attitude to potential employers rather than allow my discouragement to come through. It has been this positive attitude that has help many of my people land good positions following their termination from La-Z-Boy.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Wendy English for many years. We attended school together and have had the opportunity over the years to work together on different projects. One thing I have noticed about Wendy is she has never changed over all these years. She has always shown an interest and a caring attitude to everyone she knows. She really listens and helps you to feel confident in the things she teaches. I recently lost a position due to a plant closing and Wendy was sent to help us prepare to re-enter the job market and find new positions with other employers. I was so impressed how she helped each and every person to feel better about themselves as well helping them to see the skills they could use to help another employer. She has an incredible way about her that you know she really cares and will help you to find the direction in life you are looking for. I think any employer would be benefited by having Wendy as part of their team.

She is smart, easy to speak to and easy to get along with. She enjoys people and genuinely likes to motivate others towards their goals. I personally want to thank you. As I briefly mentioned this morning, I have gone through similar training almost 3 years ago. I felt more comfortable this time. I did not feel like I was in competition with other and there was plenty of time for personal hands on and personal tutoring by you. You did a great job.
